Georgia Senate Runoffs

Before the general election, there was an assumption in Georgia that we would see a lower percentage of GOP votes for Trump than for other Republican candidates. The thinking was that some loyal, policy based Republicans would still support their party, but show their disdain for Trump by simply not voting in the presidential race.

The opposite happened. The big miss in the above prediction is that it assumed rational thinking. It assumed that there are more somewhat sane Republicans than insane Trumpers. But the Trump Party is now larger than the Republican Party in Georgia.

This is promising news for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, the Democrats in the senate runoff races. The Trump Party will not turn out for an election that doesn’t feature Trump on the ballot.

What about the balance of power in the United States Senate? Well, to put it kindly, anything beyond “Vote Trump” is probably too complicated for them to process. In fact, many Trumpers likely leaned on Lady Luck to cast a successful ballot in the general election. They're not going to subject themselves to the mental challenge of voting a second time for the uppity likes of Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue.  (They might’ve connected more with Doug Collins, but that's neither here nor there.)

Again, to be absolutely clear, they give zero shits about anything other than Donald J. Trump. Because Donald J. Trump gives zero shits about anything other than Donald J. Trump.
